Calcium D-Glucarate:

Calcium D-Glucarate is a compound found in various fruits and vegetables, such as, apples, grapefruits, oranges, broccoli and cauliflower.

It can be produced by mammals, but usually in very small quantities, so if your diet is lacking in some of these vegetables and fruits mentioned earlier, you can become relatively deficient in Calcium D-Glucarate.

The Normal Cycle for Estrogen Elimination:

The liver processes all sorts of steroid hormones and various fat-soluble chemicals through glucuronidation (it attaches glucuronic acid to the hormone to prevent it from becoming active again), and then pushes it out with the bile in to the digestive tract to be excreted. However, the normal gut flora in the colon produces beta-glucoronidase, an enzyme which breaks the bond between estrogen and glucuronic acid, allowing the estrogen to be reabsorbed from the gut in to the bloodstream again. In this way a percentage of the estrogen that was meant to be excreted is reabsorbed in to the body.

What's so Important about Calcium D-Glucarate?

It has two very important functions in the body that help with the normal and healthy detoxification of carcinogenic xenobiotics and estrogen. It increases the glucuronidation detoxification process, to help the liver process excess estrogen and other harmful chemicals and it also decreases the production of beta-glucoronidase by the gut flora. The end result is better detoxification and reduced reabsorption of the chemicals being excreted by the liver in to the intestines.

Cancer

Various types of cancers are estrogen-dependant, for example, certain types of breast cancer will grow more in an estrogen rich environment. The proper elimination of estrogen can help to possibly prevent various forms of cancer. There is preliminary research suggesting its role in preventing colon, skin, lung, breast, and liver cancer.
