Moxibustion to Support the Uterine Lining during IVF

Moxibustion, acupuncture, fertility, IVF

Moxibustion is a safe and simple treatment that can be easily combined with acupuncture for a variety of treatments. With respect to Fertility Acupuncture for IVF, the use of Moxibustion leading up to an IVF transfer may be able to help support the quality of the Uterine Lining.

In a study from 2015, the use of Moxibustion in Women about to undergo IVF was observed to help improve the receptivity of the uterine lining. While the thickness of the uterine lining did not change, the blood flow to the uterus appeared to have improved with the use of Moxibustion + Acupuncture.

The quality of the uterine lining is a crucial factor for IVF success as it is where the embryo needs to attach to and for pregnancy to take place. While more research is still needed to determine to what extent the moxibustion may play a role, the high safety profile of moxibustion when used correctly by a trained professional may offer some benefit to try and help improve the success rate of IVF transfers.

The use of moxibustion was also observed to help increase the rate of high-quality embryos and increase transfer day estrogen levels in the same study mentioned above.
